Chutney Packing Machines: Pouches, Jars and Prices

Quick answer

For chutney, match the filler to the recipe and the machine to the finished pack. Roll-film sachets suit portion packs, premade pouches suit larger retail packs, and jar filling suits rigid containers. Test the largest particles, product temperature and seal cleanliness before fixing the configuration.

Indicative equipment budgets are USD 5,000–30,000 for roll-film sachets, USD 10,000–45,000 for premade pouches and USD 12,000–50,000 for jar filling/capping.

A chutney line should preserve the recipe while producing a clean, dependable seal. Comwin matches the filling path, finished pack and handling to your actual chutney, including the thickest batch and largest pieces.

Portion sachets from roll film

A liquid/paste form-fill-seal machine forms the package around the measured dose. Match valve openings to fibers and particles, and allow the product to clear the seal band before the jaws close. If pieces cannot pass intact or filling leaves a contaminated seal, change the product path or consider a wider-mouth premade pouch.

Premade retail pouches

Opening a finished pouch provides a different filling window from a narrow film tube. The nozzle, pouch mouth and cutoff must work together. A zipper is a reclosure feature; the filled pack still needs its specified final seal. Confirm pouch opening and seal-band clearance with the actual material.

Jar filling and capping

For chunky recipes, choose a product path that passes the largest pieces without excessive shear. Confirm jar mouth, fill temperature, headspace and cap compatibility. If hot filling is part of the validated food process, both the container and product-contact system need to accommodate it; a capped jar alone does not establish shelf life.

Packaging problems and the configuration to check

Problem, cause and corrective configuration
ProblemLikely mechanism to investigateConfiguration and confirmation check
Doses drift between batchesViscosity, temperature or hopper level changes the flow.Use controlled feed and a suitable dosing module; compare net fills at different product temperatures and feed levels.
Pieces break or block the valveThe narrowest passage or pump action does not suit the recipe.Check the largest particle and fibers throughout the feed path; examine the discharged product as well as fill weight.
Sachets leak despite looking sealedOil, strings or particles reach the seal band.Coordinate dosing cutoff, nozzle position and fill clearance; check sealed packs after realistic handling.
Flavor change takes too longResidual product remains in inaccessible contact parts.Define accessible or removable contact parts and a repeatable cleaning sequence. Specify any required CIP function separately.

Match the product and use case

Three chutney packaging scenarios: portion sachet with vertical packing machine, stand-up pouch with pouch filler, and jar with filling and capping machine.

Test the recipe extremes, not just the easiest batch

Send the thickest chutney, the largest particles, a normal batch and the proposed packaging. Comwin can then compare feed consistency, particle integrity, filling cutoff, seal or cap cleanliness and changeover cleaning. A successful trial with a smooth sauce cannot by itself confirm a chunky chutney recipe. Record the acceptable fill variation and leakage checks before agreeing the configuration.

The food preparation or shelf-life process remains a separate project input. A filler, hot-fill capability or closure does not replace recipe and distribution validation.

Chutney Packing Machine Price: Indicative Equipment Budget

Use these USD ranges for preliminary equipment planning as of October 2026. They describe alternative configurations, not a package of all the listed machines. They are not a formal quotation or a verified market average.

Indicative equipment budgets in USD
Equipment scopePlanning rangeAssumptions and boundaries
Roll-film chutney sachetsUSD 5,000–30,000One film format, product-matched feed and dosing, forming and sealing.
Premade chutney pouchesUSD 10,000–45,000One pouch format, opening/handling, suitable dosing and final sealing.
Jar filling and cappingUSD 12,000–50,000One agreed jar/cap format, filling and cap operations.

Assume a new China-export supply, one agreed packaging format and the ordinary product conditions stated above. Confirm the delivery term and included commissioning in the written quote. Freight, taxes, overseas installation, factory utilities, upstream food or water processing, cold-chain equipment, extra formats/tooling, inspection, labeling and downstream packing are excluded unless expressly included. Heating, cleaning or special-hygiene functions require a defined scope. A broader range does not mean every configuration includes its upper-end features.

Compare offers at the same fill size, product condition, package material, good-pack output and acceptance criteria. Ask for the included functions, change parts, consumables and interfaces alongside the price. Do not add alternative route budgets together.

Compare the work the equipment actually automates

Automation comparison in four operating dimensions
DimensionAssisted or batch operationRepeated automatic operation
Production modeShort recipe batches with manual pack presentationRepeated production in one defined pack format
People and replenishmentWeigh recipes and refill product; present jars or packs if the quoted route requires it.Replenish film/pouches/containers and product; monitor closure quality.
Format and product changesKeep the actual setup work visible: Recipe residues, particle path and packaging adjustments.Agree change parts, setup access and a repeatable cleaning/restart sequence.
AcceptanceUse the same product and packaging quality criteria.Compare intact pieces, net fill, closure cleanliness and changeover cleaning.

Set the required good packs per shift before choosing a quoted speed. Deduct planned cleaning, format changes and replenishment from production time, and include rejected packs. A short demonstration at nominal speed does not establish sustained accepted output.

Use sample testing with your actual product and packaging to resolve dosing, handling and seal questions before fixing the equipment scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can one filler handle smooth and chunky chutney?

If the largest pieces and fibers pass intact through the same filling path, one configuration may handle both recipes. Send the thickest batch and largest particles for a trial; a smooth-sauce result does not confirm chunky chutney.

Which route fits portion sachets?

For smooth or suitably fine-particle portions, compare a liquid/paste form-fill-seal machine with suitable dosing. Confirm the portion, film and seal clearance. If the product cannot pass or clear the seal, change the feed or pouch opening.

What changes chutney packing machine price?

The package, dosing path, particle handling, temperature requirements and accepted output change the scope. Compare roll-film, premade-pouch and jar quotations separately, using the same recipe and acceptance checks.

Can hot chutney be filled directly?

When hot filling is part of the defined process, confirm product temperature, contact parts, container or film compatibility and closing conditions. Provide the real material samples; hot filling does not by itself establish shelf life.

Send the samples that determine the configuration

Recipe and ingredients; particle/fiber size; viscosity or a sample at filling temperature; sachet, pouch or jar samples; net fill and headspace; seal/closure checks; required good packs per shift; cleaning and available utilities.

Include the required product-contact and cleaning specification, acceptable fill variation, seal or cap checks and any existing equipment interfaces. Send photographs, dimensions or samples of the complete package, not only a nominal pack volume.

Comwin uses these inputs to recommend the packaging route, dosing and handling arrangement, required interfaces and an itemized equipment offer. Where testing is needed, the trial plan should identify the product/materials, checks and acceptance criteria before the configuration is finalized.

Comwin offers free sample testing and factory visits. The confirmed warranty is two years for the complete machine and three years for core components, subject to the agreed terms. Remote support targets a response within 24 hours; resolution time depends on the fault and required action.
